Smooth Coated Curly Horses
One of the most wonderful things about the Smooth Coated
Curlies is that they have a variety of coats; they can be silky,
coarse, or feel like cotton.  Some of them will have curved eye
lashes (top and/or bottom), curly fetlocks, wavy manes and/or
tails, bunny fur, waves in certain areas of their body and then
there are those that are stick straight.

Some of the Smooth Coated Curlies have some of the best fiber
for spinning.  For more information about the usage of their
fiber Bunny Reveglia (contact page).
Q.  What is a Smooth Coated (SC) Curly?

A.  A Smooth Coated (SC) Curly is a Curly horse that has
few or no visible curls.

Welcome to the Smooth Coated (SC) Curly horse site.  This site will
provide you with information about the SC Curly Horse, its
hypoallergenic qualities and research that is being done on the SC
Curly Horse.  Even though the SC Curly may look like a typical horse (in
most instances) it is in fact a Curly horse with the same attributes as the
curly Curlies.   Just like the curly Curlies the SC Curlies have wonderful
personalities, are easily trainable, come in any size, mini to draft, and
could be either gaited or non-gaited. SC Curlies are used in many
different disciplines such as trail, shows,  eventing, dressage, jumping,
endurance, carting, etc.  And YES, the SC Curly has the same
hypoallergenic qualities as the curly coated curlys.  In fact, some
people have had even less of a reaction to the SC curly than they have
had to the curly coat Curlies.  See our testimonials page.

This web site is to help conserve, provide information and promote the
Smooth Coated Curlies.  Here you will find breeders and individuals
who have SC Curlies.  If you would like to donate to our research fund
please let us know.

Research Projects:

Fiber spinnability:  There has been fiber tests done on the SC
Curlies and the curly Curlies as to their spinnability.
Hair test on the curls:  We are still doing hair tests to try and find out
what is stopping our SC Curlies from having the visible curls that the
curly Curlies have
.
The Curly horse Gene:
There are also studies being done on the
finding the Curly gene.
